FAQ

When do you know it is the right time to make a career change
Every candidate’s situation is different and there are a lot of different factors to consider both personal and professional.  But the important thing understand is that you don’t necessarily have to be looking for a new position to start the conversation with Engage Search Partners.  We work with many passive candidates that are happy with their current position but would simply like to be kept abreast of competitive opportunities in the market.

What is the process for starting a search with Engage Search Partners?

Typically, we would like to receive an updated resume from the candidate so that we can review the candidate’s background prior to our initial call.  If you don’t have a resume prepared, we can still start the process but to be submitted to clients we will need an updated resume. After our initial call, we will schedule a face to face meeting or a video conference for a more in-dept conversation about your work experience. In this interview, we want to get a deeper understanding of what is important to you and what you have accomplished up to this point in your career.  We are looking for examples of where you stood out amongst your peers.  Think of it as your career highlights, think about times where your efforts either (a) saved your employer money by reducing expenses, (b) made your employer money by increasing sales, or (c) improved processes creating greater efficiency for the organization. This type of information helps us show potential employers why you are different from other candidates with similar backgrounds.

Will you help me prepare for the interview with the client?

Yes!  One of the biggest advantages to having Engage Search Partners represent you is the one-on-one interview preparation.  We will work with you helping you understand the client’s needs, organizing your career accomplishments, and handling the typical interview questions.  We want our candidate’s to be 100% prepared and confident when they walk in to meet our clients.

Will you negotiate my salary and benefits with the prospective employer?

Yes, we work in between the client and the candidate trying to negotiate a Win/Win situation for both parties.  In order to do that, it is important that we understand your full compensation package – salary, bonuses, profit sharing, equity compensation, vacation, and benefits.  An offer is not just a number, it is the entire package.

How long will it take for me to find the right job?

It really varies.  It depends on timing, your work experience and how your skills match up to the positions available in the market.  If you have a skill set that is in high demand the process can be very quick (2-4 weeks).  If you have a very niche skill set that is only attractive to clients in a certain industry, it could take months to find the right situation.

What kind of salary can I expect to receive?

There is no easy answer to this question.  Market value is largely determined by demand, years of experience, career accomplishments, and the competition from the other candidates in the interview process.
